(NewsNation) — Former NASA astronaut Jose Hernandez says the astronauts on the Artemis II mission “saw the whole moon” during their heavily anticipated lunar flyby and will be “lifelong friends.”

The crew of four astronauts is on the way back to Earth after traveling farther into space than any humans in history. On Monday, they traveled more than 252,000 statute miles from Earth, breaking Apollo 13’s 248,655 miles back in 1970.

“This is the first time they’re seeing the far side of the moon as a whole,” Hernandez said, explaining that astronauts from the previous Apollo missions “were about 70 miles above the moon, so they just saw........
