Watch live: Jeffries gives remarks amid DHS, redistricting battles

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries will speak with reporters Thursday morning as the battle over Department of Homeland Security (DHS) funding persists and days after Virginia voters approved a Democratic-friendly redistricting measure.

Jeffries has been at the forefront of the push for reforms within immigration enforcement, which led to the partial government shutdown that has now stretched past two months. The Senate overnight approved a GOP-led budget resolution, though not all Republicans were on board, looking to reopen DHS.

The New York Democrat, who celebrated Democrats’ victory in Virginia on Tuesday, warned Florida that approving a new GOP-leaning map would “backfire.” He has also heavily criticized President Trump, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and FBI Director Kash Patel in recent days.

The press conference is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. EDT.
