Live updates: As ceasefire deadline arrives, Trump leans against extension for Iran

President Trump on Tuesday said he isn’t interested in extending the ceasefire with Iran that ends in a matter of hours.

“I don’t want to do that. We don’t have that much time,” he told CNBC on Tuesday morning.

In Washington, Republican lawmakers are sounding the alarm over Trump’s handling of the economy after Iran announced it would keep the Strait of Hormuz closed.

On Tuesday, a handful of Trump administration officials will testify before Congress, including Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Energy Secretary Chris Wright. The Senate Banking Committee, meanwhile, will hear from Trump’s nominee to replace Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell, Kevin Warsh.
