Trump says joint US-Nigeria raid killed top ISIS commander 

President Trump said late Friday that the U.S. military and Nigerian forces “flawlessly executed” a mission to take out a top ISIS commander.

“Tonight, at my direction, brave American forces and the Armed Forces of Nigeria flawlessly executed a meticulously planned and very complex mission to eliminate the most active terrorist in the world from the battlefield,” Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social.

The president said the mission targeted Abu-Bilal al-Minuki, who he said was “second in command” for the designated terrorist organization and was hiding out in Africa. 

“He will no longer terrorize the people of Africa, or help plan operations to target Americans,” Trump continued. “With his removal, ISIS’s global operation is greatly diminished. Thank you to the Government of Nigeria for your partnership on this operation. GOD BLESS AMERICA!”
