China targets US firms, drone exports ahead of Xi visit
China’s Commerce Ministry announced a new slate of sanctions against the United States and some of its firms on Wednesday in response to a recent moves by two U.S. agencies that targeted China, over a month before Chinese President Xi Jinping is scheduled to visit President Trump.
In the latest move by China, it would ban domestic organizations and individuals from doing business with seven American entities. The Commerce Ministry said the sanctions were announced because of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) ban on imports of drones and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) adding goods from 43 Chinese companies to the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act that is meant to ban imports of goods made using forced labor.
