Trump touts ‘magnificent’ ballroom in first remarks after midterm drubbing

President Trump, in his first public remarks since Republicans lost big in the midterm elections, showed off the White House ballroom construction Wednesday.

The president signed the final beam, along with workers and other officials, and watched it get lifted into place. He didn’t mention the results of the midterm elections until taking questions from reporters, when he also remarked on Vice President Vance’s statement that the Iran war cost Republicans the midterms.

Trump called the ballroom “the most powerful building structurally … they say ever built and it was designed that way so the president can have safety,” Trump said. “It’s been the dream of presidents to have a ballroom for 150 years.”
