King Charles and Queen Camilla to visit Washington in April

The United Kingdom’s King Charles III and Queen Camilla are set to travel to Washington in late April to celebrate the relationship between the U.K. and the U.S. amid America’s 250th birthday this year.

Buckingham Palace confirmed the visit Tuesday with Trump confirming shortly after that the royals will be in the U.S. from April 27 to April 30.

“Melania and I are pleased to announce that Their Majesties, the King and Queen of the United Kingdom, will visit the United States for a Historic State Visit from April 27-30th, which will include a beautiful Banquet Dinner at the White House on the evening of April 28th,” Trump wrote on TruthSocial.

The Palace announced the visit would mark the two countries historic connections.

“On advice of His Majesty’s Government, and at the invitation of The President of the United States, The King and Queen will undertake a State Visit to the United States of America. Their Majesties’ programme will celebrate the historic connections and the modern bilateral relationship between the United Kingdom and the United States, marking the 250th anniversary of American Independence,” the Palace said.

The visit follows Trump’s visit to the U.K. in September where he attended a state dinner at Windsor Castle. The event was also attended by Prince William and his wife, Catherine, the Princess of Wales.

It will be Charles’ first state visit to the U.S. as king. He will travel to Bermuda after visiting Washington, the Palace said.

The King has visited the U.S. 19 times before being crowned in 2023. His mother, Queen Elizabeth II, made four state visits to the U.S.

While Trump has spoken highly of the king and queen, he has had a rocky relationship with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer over his unwillingness to join the U.S.- Israel Iran war.
