Trump is fighting for the working class, unlike the DSA

Who actually represents working-class Americans?  

It sure isn’t the Democratic Socialists of America, who are largely white, college-educated liberals. They claim to be fighting for that group they cannot even define. Asked who makes up the working class by a New York Times reporter, New York’s Mayor Zohran Mamdani offered a babbling brook of a response that appeared to include anyone who “works to afford their life.” His definition could arguably include $1,500 dollar-an-hour lawyers and millionaire investment bankers with fancy houses in the Hamptons. That is how deeply Mamdani understands the working, middle and professional classes.

Unions no longer seem to represent the working class. They are too busy struggling for survival and tagging along with leftists like activist Claire Valdez, who recently won the Democratic primary in New York’s 7th congressional district with the backing of the United Auto Workers. Valdez, a member of that union by virtue of her status as a grad student, hates and wants to abolish cars. She wants to redirect government money away from highways and toward public transportation. 

Do the assembly line workers at Ford agree with that?

The UAW mobilized thousands of members to deliver the district for Valdez, so she can “fight back against corporate greed and inequality,” according to UAW President Shawn Fain. The kind of inequality, presumably, that allowed Valdez to attend a fancy private art school in Chicago that costs $60,000 per year.  

The SEIU and AFL-CIO embrace transgender issues and support sanctuary cities — the very sort of woke policies that warm socialist hearts but probably don’t sit well with conservative-leaning working-class Americans. 

The AFL-CIO commits, for instance, to refusing “to allow billionaires and the politicians they fund to distract and divide the labor movement with attacks on transgender and nonbinary workers.” What rote........
