Bill Gates in Epstein probe interview: ‘I have never victimized anyone’

Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates on Wednesday told the House Oversight Committee that he has “never victimized anyone” and never had an indication that Jeffrey Epstein engaged in criminal conduct.

Gates, in prepared opening remarks for his voluntary interview as part of the committee’s investigation into the late sex offender, painted a picture of Epstein as an unreliable and vindictive man with whom he engaged with as he sought to raise money for philanthropic efforts. He told the panel that he strongly supported its investigation into Epstein.

“At the outset, I want to state very clearly: I never witnessed nor had any indication that Epstein was engaged in ongoing criminal conduct. I never went to his island, his ranch, or his Florida home. I have never victimized anyone. While he may have sought to foster a personal relationship, I was never interested in that and never reciprocated,” Gates said in the opening statement.

He said he was introduced to Epstein in 2011 — after Epstein had been convicted of sex crimes — and Epstein claimed he could help raise money for Gates’s philanthropic efforts on global health.
