It’s Monday. The Washington Nationals hat giveaway over the weekend has been the talk of the city. You are a local celebrity if you got one of the “BAD DAY TO BE A 🌭” hats.

Oh, and DC has its first heat alert of the season today. It’s going to be very hot for the next few days.

Starting out the week with a bang:

President Trump’s job approval is hitting the danger zone. For the first time in his second term, his approval dipped below 40 percent in the Real Clear Politics average, slipping to 39 percent.

It’s not just one metric: His approval rating sits at a low 36 percent in CNN’s average of recent polls. And it’s hovering around 38 percent, according to Nate Silver’s Silver Bulletin.

The New York Times and Siena released new polling today that should worry Republicans.

His new war is unpopular: Nearly two-thirds of voters say Trump made the wrong decision in going to war with Iran, according to the latest New York Times/Siena poll released on Monday.

And he’s losing ground on one of the biggest issues that won him the presidency — the economy: Just 33 percent of voters approve of how the president is handling the economy. And just 28 percent of voters approve of his handling of the cost of living.

Nearly half of voters rate economic conditions today as “poor.”

What about his signature immigration policies?: Trump’s approval of his handling of immigration nine points below water at 41 percent.

Remember when Trump’s tax returns leaked in 2019?:

He then sued the IRS for a contractor releasing the records to some news outlets.

Well, there’s an update this morning. President Trump is moving to dismiss that $10 billion lawsuit.

Keep in mind: If he had won that settlement, the $10 billion would have come from taxpayer money. Read more on this new update
