Absolute chaos sparked up in a UConn Huskies-Massachusetts Minutemen men’s college hockey game, and holy moly, wait until you see this footage.

After locking in a 3-3 tie at the end of regulation, UConn and UMass were forced into an overtime period at Hadley, Massachusetts’ Mullins Center. The latter attempted to slide one shot past the goaltender of the Huskies, however, things didn’t come to fruition. As a result, UConn was able to start a break. Kai Janviriya, a defenseman for the Huskies, sped down the ice with the puck and was potentially about to score the game-winning goal.

With that being said, when he arrived in the Minutemen’s zone, the arena went completely dark as the lights went off.

No goal was scored in overtime, ultimately leading to the game going into a shootout. Following seven rounds, UMass finally landed the win.

One of the WILDEST overtime moments you’ll ever see. 😱 As soon as UCONN (the away team) got the puck and were primed for a great scoring chance, the lights started flicking and eventually WENT OUT. 💡❌ UMASS went on to win in the shootout. 😵‍💫 (Via @NCAAIceHockey) pic.twitter.com/A8jfPLnjAN — B/R Open Ice (@BR_OpenIce) March 1, 2026

See, it’s stuff like this why people think sports is rigged, and I’m not saying that this particular instance was, but you get my point. This is why sports is nothing more than a business to me, whether it’s my job, betting or seeing South Florida win a championship.

My real passions nowadays are weather and finance, I’ve become too old and skeptical of sports to view it innocently, which is sad.

Ahh, who am I kidding. There’s always going to be that part of me that loves and adores sports, I can’t even lie. But again, you get my point.
