KATY GORDON: What I learned from reader responses to my column about Perth and Kinross Council issues
My last column seems to have struck a chord with some of my fellow residents in Perth and Kinross.
On one hand it is reassuring to know that it’s not just me.
But on the other it is worrying that so many people claim to have gone through bad or disappointing experiences with the council.
What is universal in people’s responses is the passion residents have for their communities and local areas.
Some comments came from people who are working hard in organisations to try and fill the gaps left by local and national governments and they should be lauded for their efforts.
Interestingly, a lot of the replies were centred on Perth as an economic hub in need of some TLC and a helping hand to businesses to keep them in the city centre.
The fallout of the farmers’ market moving from King Edward Street to the South Inch, which during Covid allowed for more space between stalls but since then has pulled shoppers out of the pedestrian area to that part of the city, is interesting.
