Unable to Drive a Regular Car, Disabled UP Man Builds His Own Using Scooter Parts
By day, Vimal Kishore runs a small coffee stall in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. By night, he puts his earnings into something he has pursued for years: building machines that solve everyday problems.
His latest creation is Lailo, a car he built for Rs 90,000 using parts from a scooter. Equipped with solar power, GPS and a rear-view camera, the vehicle grew out of his own need to travel independently.
For Vimal, who lives with a disability affecting his legs, building a car was not just about creating a machine. It was about finding a way to drive despite the physical limitations that prevented him from using a conventional vehicle.
When he decided to build his own car
Vimal’s journey began much earlier. When he was just eight months old, a severe fever affected his legs. Growing up, he watched other children walk, run and play, activities he could not participate in the same way.
