Achieving and ranking the career ‘fan’ grand slam

My dream was to see all four tennis majors. Yes, some dreams come true! I just finished the career fan slam after attending the Aussie Open and French Open earlier this year. But, like most of us in the sports world, it’s hard to be a pure fan and not analyze each aspect of the event. Because we all love rankings, here’s my list of the four majors and how I got there:

Culture: Classy and beautiful. Everything feels curated just for you.

Tickets: Expensive for guaranteed seats, but The Queue is a fun way to get reasonably priced access to outdoor courts and a shot at the main courts. If you have the money, buying Debentures gets you a guaranteed seat and these are available early.

Ingress/egress: Easy tube to Southfields and then a short walk. Taxis and Uber available with a short walk. In/out at control points flow smoothly.

F&B: Plenty of options. Strawberries and cream are a must-have.

Viewing: All the sight lines are great, outdoor or main courts. The Hill is a fantastic way to hang out and watch the big screens with plenty of F&B nearby.

Merch: Lots of purple and green options at every corner. Everyone likes it for a holiday present.

Overall: Clear No. 1, bucket-list event.

Culture: They’ve earned the moniker “Happy Slam”! Super chill........
