SF’s legendary Big 4 restaurant is finally back. Here’s what we know.

The Huntington Hotel atop San Francisco’s Nob Hill is located on California Street and on the corner of Taylor Street. 

One of San Francisco’s most historic restaurants is reopening after a six-year hiatus — and bringing the old-school opulence of a bygone era back to Nob Hill.

The Big Four, at 1075 California St. on the ground floor of the newly revived Huntington Hotel, is currently open to hotel guests and will welcome the public in about two weeks. In a March 2 Instagram post, the operator of the hotel, Greg Flynn, told Mayor Daniel Lurie that it would be ready for the public on Sunday, March 15.

Reservations are available starting March 17 through the restaurant’s reservation platform. In an interview on Monday, the Big Four bartender Mark Cretin also confirmed the March 17 date to SFGATE. Standing at the bar, Cretin said he thinks diners will be pleased that the restaurant has been restored to look and feel as it did when it first opened in 1976. Even the live piano, a rarity in SF restaurants, is coming back on Thursdays through Saturdays.
