A while back, I was out in the backyard, hanging out laundry, early on a Saturday morning, when I noticed a white blob, about the size of a baseball, on the lawn.
A variety of birds, squirrels, chipmunks and rabbits live in my backyard.
A while back, I was out in the backyard, hanging out laundry, early on a Saturday morning, when I noticed a white blob, about the size of a baseball, on the lawn. When I walked over to investigate, I noticed a slight movement so knew it was a living thing. It was a baby opossum. As is their habit it froze and so did I.

Now, having encountered a grown one a few years ago wandering my back yard between dusk and night I did some research so I knew it shouldn’t have been out there in the early morning hours.
I looked around hoping mother opossum wasn’t nearby; they can be quite vicious and smelly. She was not........
