Wrinkle release sprays promise a quick fix for creased clothes, but most only smooth out light wrinkles, not deep creases that set in during storage. Drying time, scent and whether a formula reaches ingredient-safety databases like SkinSafe can vary widely between sprays marketed for the same quick touch-up.
Consumer Reports tested seven wrinkle release sprays on dress shirts with both fresh and set-in creases, so shoppers can find one suited to their actual laundry problem.
Downy Wrinkle Releaser Plus
Priced at $7.99, the Downy Wrinkle Releaser Plus is one of the more heavily scented sprays evaluated and isn't offered in a fragrance-free version. Consumer Reports found this was the only spray in this test that significantly lightened both deep, set-in wrinkles and freshly added ones. CR found it takes about 45 minutes to dry fully after application, and recommends spraying at that distance ahead of when the garment will be worn.........
