Every accommodation you make for your adult child is a question in disguise. Yet most parents never stop to ask it. Over my career, I have sat with parents of adult children (and many adult children as well) carrying a diagnosis of ADHD, anxiety, depression, or autism. Many adult children struggle who have not been formally diagnosed with a mental health condition. Whatever the causes of the adult child's struggles, many parents are trying to help unhealthily, which is the real reason their adult child can't move forward. It is hard for me to write the previous sentence because I am not about casting blame or judgment when I discuss this painful........
