Evaluating Mental Health Literacy Programs

Teachers are expected to do everything. Primary and secondary school educators must cover the fixed curriculum, be kind and patient disciplinarians (and kids may not always experience this at home), look out for signs of abuse, and keep the classroom safe. They also need to address prevention and response for mental health with education.

How is it possible for one individual to have all the skills and knowledge required? Especially on mental health, which often requires clinical expertise to adequately identify and redress. Where do teachers begin?

Founded in 2023, the Mental Health Literacy Collaborative has sought to ensure that a framework for education related to mental health literacy would be available, known, and accepted.
