While Green Leader Matt MacFarlane had been steadily climbing in the quarterly opinion poll conducted by Narrative Research, the big question was “could he transfer that increased support into electoral success?” Asked and answered with the election of Tayte Willows as MLA for Cornwall-Meadowbank.

Don’t get me wrong. Willows was a strong candidate who was making her second attempt at taking the seat after finishing second to the late Mark McLane in 2023. She clearly ran the best campaign, in my humble opinion, not only as a political commentator but as a voter in the district. Her daily social media posts summarizing the concerns she heard at the door were supplemented with traditional television and newspaper ads near the end of the campaign.

However, MacFarlane accompanied her on the campaign trail pretty much every day, presenting himself as a premier in waiting, and he was featured prominently in........
