Oct. 26 seems a long way off as we wait for spring to finally come and stay. If you are running for city council, it isn’t that far away. It’s amazing how time will fly and the ballots will be counted before you have time to say “Jeff Leal.”

Speaking of Jeff Leal, he hasn’t said (as of this writing) whether or not he is running for mayor again.

When questioned, his stock reply is a variation of, “I’m not letting politics interfere with the work at hand.”

Come on, Jeff! In an election year, politics is very much “the work at hand,” particularly if you are running again. I rather suspect you are, but I have been wrong before.

In any case, I think you owe it to both any other potential mayoral candidates and the public to make your intention known sooner than later.
