46 years of hope: Peterborough’s Terry Fox Run returns Sept. 20

The Peterborough Community Terry Fox Run, now in its 46th year, takes place Sunday, Sept. 20 from 8 a.m. until noon at Nicholls Oval.

The race continues the cause that the legendary Terry Fox began in 1980 — raising money for cancer research.

The run begins with an opening ceremony and ribbon cutting at 9 a.m. Pledges or donations can be received run day or online at terryfox.org.

Participants can run, bike or walk the route. This is a noncompetitive family event that takes place rain or shine.

Run day is also a time to meet Terry Team members who will be present and show everyone the benefits they have received by the money raised to improve treatments and better survival rates.

Terry Fox T-shirts will also be available for purchase.

Prior to the Run, the 14th annual bake sale will be held Sunday, Sept. 13 at 1444 Monaghan Rd. from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., with all proceeds going to the run. The cost of the baked........
