DIPLOMACY has the power to shape narratives, but it cannot erase history. Governments may celebrate political achievements on international podiums and declare disputes resolved through carefully crafted speeches, yet unresolved conflicts do not disappear simply because they are described differently. Kashmir remains one of those enduring realities. Despite repeated attempts to portray the region as a settled issue, it continues to occupy a place in international diplomacy, legal discourse and the global human rights debate. The question is no longer whether competing narratives exist, but whether political rhetoric can outweigh international law and the aspirations of the people most directly affected.

Pakistan has consistently maintained that the Kashmir dispute is neither an internal matter nor a closed chapter of history.
