Zardari’s China visit: Deepening ties

From April 25 to May 1, 2026, Asif Ali Zardari undertook a five-day official visit to China, marking 75 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

More than a ceremonial milestone, the visit signaled a decisive shift toward deeper economic integration, technological collaboration and strategic alignment.

Importantly, this was not an isolated engagement but part of a sustained diplomatic effort. It marked President Asif Ali Zardari’s third visit to China in 15 months. In February 2025, he held high-level talks in Beijing with Xi Jinping and senior Chinese leaders. This was followed by another visit in September 2025 to key economic and strategic centers, including Chengdu, Shanghai and Xinjiang. These continued engagements highlight the growing momentum and strategic significance of Pakistan–China relations.
