Marq-e-Haq: Transformed Pakistan’s outlook

THE first anniversary of Marq-e-Haq (The Battle for Truth), the official name for the broader conflict between Pakistan and India from April 22 to May 10, 2025, is being commemorated across Pakistan with great enthusiasm.

The Pakistani defence forces’ victory in the four-day war marked civil and military leadership’s professional acumen and proficient military muscle. As a result, the country’s stature in the international community has grown and the people of Pakistan feel greater pride and security. The world today is very different from when the United Nations was created in the mid-1940s. It is also different from what it was after the end of the Cold War. The era of state-on-state wars has returned, while the effectiveness of multilateral institutions is quickly declining. Militarily weak or small states are now vulnerable to states seeking regional control and pursuing aggressive foreign policies. Therefore, nations valuing sovereignty must build an unassailable defensive fence.

The Pakistani ruling elite is crystal clear about the designs of its Indian counterparts. Therefore, it was well prepared to counter the extremist, irrational, trigger-happy, Hindutva-driven Modi government’s unprovoked air strikes on May 6-7, 2025, on the mainland of Pakistan and Azad Kashmir, which resulted in a four-day military standoff, a period of heightened military tension and potential conflict. India and Pakistan........
