Man charged after police officer smacked in Tesco row

The incident happened at Tesco Express on Unthank Road in Norwich on January 18 when police were called to reports of an argument at 9.20pm.

A police spokeswoman said: "Harley Goldsack, 35, of no fixed abode, has been charged with assault of an emergency worker and resisting arrest, he will face no further action for assault, intentional strangulation and possession of a knife pending any new evidence coming to light.

"He is due to appear at Norwich Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 25 March 2026."

Police attended and arrested a man on Unthank Road, during which an officer was hit in the face.

The man was taken to Wymondham Police Investigation Centre to be questioned on suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker, assault, intentional strangulation and possession of a knife.

He was released on bail.
