Group accused of assaulting Asda staff released on bail

Police officers were called to Asda in Acle New Road just after 9pm on April 8, following reports that staff and customers were being assaulted by a group of people.

A member of staff was said to have been punched in the head and briefly lost consciousness after confronting the group.

An off-duty police officer was also attacked and punched in the head after witnessing the situation and intervening.

Both sustained injuries, with one needing medical attention.

A man was arrested the next day on suspicion of assault (GBH), affray, and assault of an emergency worker.

A teenage boy and a woman aged in her 20s were also arrested, each on suspicion of affray and assault of an emergency worker.

Another man in his 20s was arrested on suspicion of affray on April 10.

All four suspects were taken to Great Yarmouth Police Station for questioning, but have since been bailed.
