Officials at the Norfolk and Norwich have unveiled ambitious plans to generate 30pc of its annual energy supply by constructing a solar farm in Little Melton.

While the scheme is in its early stages, plans show power would be supplied to the hospital through an underground cable along Watton Road.

Bosses say sending power directly from the solar farm to the hospital, rather than relying on electricity imported from the grid, will help stabilise energy costs.
