Personal Agent Protocol explained: How AI assistants may act for users

Meta, Sierra and partners are developing an open protocol for personal AI agents to work with businesses. The plan covers identity, permissions and sessions, but the first specification and independent security testing are still pending.

Meta, Sierra and several technology and retail companies have announced the Personal Agent Protocol, an open standard intended to help AI assistants interact with businesses on a user’s behalf. Partners named by Sierra include Genesys, Instinct, Rocket, Shopify, Stripe and Walmart.
