The SNP, Plaid Cymru and Sinn Féin have signed a joint memorandum calling for greater cooperation and future constitutional change. The agreement puts fresh focus on independence movements in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

The political future of the United Kingdom has moved back into focus after the SNP, Plaid Cymru and Sinn Féin signed a joint memorandum calling for greater cooperation and demanding that Westminster prepare for possible constitutional change across Scotland, Wales and Ireland.

The agreement was signed by SNP leader John Swinney, Plaid Cymru leader Rhun ap Iorwerth and Sinn Féin vice president Michelle O’Neill. All three currently hold First Minister posts in their respective devolved administrations, although they came together in their roles as party leaders rather than representing their governments collectively.
