Volkswagen set to cut 50,000 jobs; half of lineup to be slashed by 2035

Volkswagen is set to cut 50,000 jobs on on top of around 50,000 jobs already targeted earlier this year. Further they also want to reduce their lineup by 50 per cent as well.

New Delhi: Since the start of the year, reports about Volkswagen layoffs have been going around. Volkswagen’s supervisory board unanimously approved its wider Future Plan 2030 earlier this year. On September 3, 2026, the board followed that strategy with a detailed restructuring programme made to translate the brand’s long-term goals into concrete reductions in workforce, production capacity and costs. 

Volkswagen CEO Oliver Blume described the wider plan as a strong indication of the group’s future direction.
