BMW has confirmed that the upcoming saloon will continue to have both four- and six-cylinder petrol engines. A 48-volt mild-hybrid technology will help the cars comply with tougher emissions standards.
At the top of the combustion-powered lineup will be a new M Performance trim called the M350 xDrive. It will replace the current M340i and is expected to get a 3.0-litre turbocharged inline-six mated with a mild-hybrid system. Together, the configuration produces a claimed 443 horsepower and 580 Nm of torque.
Those figures represent a significant increase over the previous M340i sold in the United States, with the new model gaining 57 hp and 80 Nm. The improvement is even more noticeable........
