IndiGo's 7th day of disruption: 71 flights axed in Chennai, normalcy still elusive
Chennai: IndiGo, India’s largest airline, has announced the cancellation of 71 flights in Chennai today, as it continues to grapple with a severe operational crisis that has crippled its services across the country for the past week.
The airline, which had been providing services to numerous cities, faced a virtual paralysis of its network following its failure to comply with new crew duty time regulations introduced by the Central Government to ensure passenger safety. The regulations, which came into effect recently, included stricter night flight and duty hour norms, for which the airline had not adequately prepared by hiring additional pilots and cabin crew.
The disruption led to hundreds of flights........
