New Delhi: SpaceX has delayed its long-anticipated Mars mission, choosing instead to refocus on the Moon as it aligns more closely with NASA’s near-term goals. The company had earlier aimed to send spacecraft to Mars in 2026 but has now told investors that the red planet will have to wait.

People familiar with the matter say the shift reflects technical, political, and commercial realities. SpaceX will now aim for an uncrewed lunar landing in March 2027, a move that places the Moon back at the centre of its exploration roadmap.
