Shah alleged that Sonia Gandhi had asked Congress workers to stop the song midway as the party celebrated the Independence Day at its headquarters in Delhi. He named Sonia Gandhi and said, "Sonia Ji, 140 crore Indians are watching you. The sin you have committed will never be forgiven by the people of this country."
New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday launched a scathing attack on the Congress over a controversy surrounding the rendition of Vande Mataram at the party’s Independence Day celebrations. The attack came after videos circulating on social media showed Sonia Gandhi intervening while the song was being played. The BJP has alleged that she asked the national song to be stopped.
Shah alleged that the disrespect meted out to the national song was due to Congress Party’s politics driven by “vote bank.” He was speaking at a rally in Rajasthan’s Chittorgarh.
