Punjab has suspended three officials after the Army rejected two consignments of Verka milk powder over quality failures, triggering a probe and political backlash in the state.
New Delhi: Three officials in Punjab have been suspended after samples of Verka brand milk powder failed tests. Milkfed MD Rahul Gupta suspended officials, including the plant’s GM, Daljit Singh, on Friday. The action was taken after the consignment of two batches, weighing approximately 125 metric tons of whole milk powder supplied was returned by the Indian Army.
The samples failed to meet the prescribed quality standards.........
