Uttarakhand reels under heavy rain as landslides block roads, rivers rise

Heavy rain has disrupted life across Uttarakhand, triggering landslides, swollen rivers and road blockages. Eight people including six students were rescued in separate incidents while the IMD issued an orange alert for four districts and schools remained closed in Dehradun.

New Delhi: Heavy rain continued to cause trouble across Uttarakhand with landslides blocking roads and swollen rivers making travel dangerous. Eight people including six students were rescued in two separate incidents as authorities remained on alert.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for heavy to very heavy rain in Dehradun, Tehri, Pauri and Udham Singh Nagar. A yellow alert is in place for the rest of the state.........
