New Delhi: Before we get into the $5 million gold card citizenship for business that US president Donald Trump wants to roll out, here’s how such an astronomical card would add to the already existing burden of Indian students who somehow manage to get admission into the coveted IVY league colleges in the United States.

PS: These are average numbers, the actual cost would be higher by a margin!

What is the cost of studying in an Ivy League college in the US

Now, figure this

Add a bill of USD 5 million dollars and suddenly the American dream seems a far-fetched one. At least, for those students who may find it difficult to sustain the kind of finances that may be required. Trump, may succeed in one thing then — to ensure that students don’t apply, don’t appear for tests and finally, don’t find employment in the US. Is this his grand plan of MAGA?

“I get calls from, as an example, companies where they want to hire the No. 1 student at the school, a person comes from India, China, Japan, lots of different places, and they go to Harvard to Wharton School of Finance, they go to Yale, they go to all great schools and graduate number one in their class and they are made job offers,” the President remarked on Wednesday as he convened the first full Cabinet meeting of his second term.

His vision of the ‘gold card’ for students and companies is primarily done to act as a tool to raise money........
