On the anniversary of her debut, veteran film journalist Dilip Thakur looks back at the actor’s early days in the industry and remembers the young newcomer who had to find her footing at a time when Hindi cinema already had several established female stars.
An unassuming entry into Bollywood
Madhuri’s arrival in the film industry came at a time when actresses such as Sridevi, Jaya Prada, Meenakshi Seshadri, Rekha and Hema Malini were already major names.
