US Army tests anti-drone tech at Mexico border as cartel drone threat rises

The US Army is testing new counter-drone systems along the US-Mexico border as military officials report a sharp rise in drone incursions linked to cartel surveillance and smuggling operations.

New Delhi: The US Army is testing advanced counter-drone technology along the US-Mexico border as the use of drones by drug cartels increases, raising concerns that criminal groups could adopt tactics and technology developed on modern battlefields.

During a recent US Northern Command exercise in Arizona, defence companies demonstrated radar systems, interceptor drones, autonomous gun systems and other technologies designed to detect, track and destroy small unmanned aircraft. The exercise, known as Falcon Peak, was held at the Yuma Proving Ground near the Mexican border.

US military officials said they detected 378 drone incursions in the previous 30 days, with the number continuing to rise. Most of the drones are........
