Today’s Breaking News LIVE Updates, September 27, 2026: Iran said on Sunday that diplomacy remained the only way to end its conflict with the United States and Israel, a day after President Donald Trump said he had rejected Tehran’s proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and pause the fighting. Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Iran’s conditions for reopening the waterway had not changed. He added that mediators had yet to formally convey Washington’s rejection, and Tehran would decide its next steps after hearing from them. Iran’s proposal, delivered through Qatari mediators during the UN General Assembly, set out a seven-day countdown to reopening the strait and a pause in regional fighting before wider negotiations.
