Delhi Capitals batter Abhishek Porel arrested after being accused of rape and harassment

Delhi Capitals cricketer Abhishek Porel was arrested in Kolkata on Tuesday for alleged rape and harrasment of a medical student.

New Delhi: Delhi Capitals (DC) and West Bengal batter Abhishek Porel has been arrested in Kolkata on charges of rape and harassment. A woman has accused Porel of raping her and having sexual relations with her on the pretext of marriage. The arrest comes days after the Calcutta High Court ordered the police to do so.

As per a report in ABP Ananda, a young woman has levelled serious allegations against the Bengal cricketer. The woman alleged that Porel formed a sexual relationship with her on the promise of marriage. She has also accused him of blackmailing her by threatening to circulate her objectionable pictures.

A case has been registered against Porel under multiple sections of the BNS and IT Act, including Sections 69, 318, 311, 66 and 72. The victim, a medical student from Karnataka, had lodged an FIR against the cricketer at the Mogra Police Station in Hooghly in June this year. Her mother joined her in filing the complaint,........
