Since 2014, when Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister of India, the situation in Jammu and Kashmir has changed significantly. From the beginning, PM Modi made it clear that separatists and their supporters would not find a place in the region, as they did not align with the nation’s broader vision.

During PM Modi’s first term in office from 2014 to 2019, Jammu and Kashmir began to experience the early signs of a historic transformation, laying the groundwork for the emergence of a “Naya Jammu and Kashmir".

After winning a decisive majority in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the Modi government made a bold decision in its second term to abrogate Articles 370 and 35A. On August 5, 2019, Jammu and Kashmir’s special status was revoked, paving the way for its complete integration into the Union of India.

Since then, Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed massive development, and there has been no turning back. Separatists, who once held significant influence in the former state, have become irrelevant in the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir. Strikes, shutdowns, and stone-pelting have become things of the past.
