“Ghar ghar Tulsi prem uchhahu, Tulsi tala lagai na kahu."
A city with no locks. That is how poet Tulsidas described Shri Ram’s Ayodhya in his Ramayana.
Today’s Ayodhya has certainly not reached the kind of prosperity and integrity famously attributed to Ram Rajya. But the sheer scale of change that the city has been undergoing since Yogi Adityanath took over as chief minister of Uttar Pradesh in 2017, coupled with the Narendra Modi government’s developmental push from the Centre, is staggering.
It is befitting then that on November 25, PM Modi will hoist the sacred flag atop the 191-foot-high spire of the Ram Temple — rebuilt nearly 500 years after it was destroyed by Mughal emperor Babur’s commander Mir Baqi — while Yogi oversees preparations for the magnificent event.
Ayodhya is now not just the heart of India’s spirituality; it is slowly transforming into an economic and tourism powerhouse.
