Hochul’s plea to runaway New Yorkers: Letters to the Editor — March 21, 2026

The Issue: Gov. Hochul begging New Yorkers who fled to return because “our tax base has been eroded.”

Gov. Hochul is truly delusional if she is asking people who left the state to come back to New York to pay for socialist handouts and bailouts (“Former NYers, we mi$$ you: Kat,” March 19).

This is the same delusional imbecile who told Republicans to “get the hell out of New York, you are not welcome here!” Now she wants them back — or should I say, their tax revenues.

Hochul told hardworking taxpayers to hit the road for daring to complain about how the state and city are run. Now that she needs money to waste on foolish projects, she’s citing patriotism in an attempt to get the escapees to return and fork over their money.

DOGE needs to take a look at New York’s books before residents are taxed anymore. And New Yorkers must stop voting for Democrats.

In 2022, Hochul told New York Republicans they should “jump on a bus and head down to Florida” because they don’t represent New York values. I’d argue many who fled actually felt their values of hard work and keeping the bulk of their hard-earned money was not a value respected by New York politicians.

Hochul should have considered the impact of her words, as those who left, including me, are not returning.

Hochul wants New Yorkers to come back so she can tap them out for taxes, which she will turn over to the antisemitic communist mayor.

Does she really think Palm Beach Jews are excited about complying with her request? Giving tax collections from wealthy Jews to an antisemite is the definition of “chutzpah.” I can’t wait for Bruce Blakeman to unseat her.

New York has become a cesspool of leftist dirtbags. Case in point, Mamdani and Hochul.

Their actions remind me of the billions wasted on Somali immigrants in Minnesota by that buffoon governor.

I’m not sure who’s voting for this scourge, but I know those who fled New York aren’t heading back anytime soon.

What happened, Kat? Did you finally realize it wasn’t a good idea to chase away high earners?

Now with Mamdani’s proposed estate tax, who would even consider dying here? Not to mention all his other tax ideas.

You made your bed by endorsing Mamdani — now lie in it.

The Issue: Mayor Mamdani ending the crackdown on e-bike drivers due to concerns it targets migrants.

As an 86-year-old who’s nearly been hit twice by e-bikes on a sidewalk, I resent Mayor Mamdani’s directive to stop the crackdown on e-bike riders (“Speed racers gonna skate,” March 19).

He said they should be “treated like others on the road.” But drivers of other vehicles like cars and motorcycles are licensed, registered and insured.

“Priscilla’s Law,” a bill stalled in the City Council, could partly remedy that situation by requiring licensing and registration for e-bikes.

How many more pedestrians must die before the City Council acts responsibly?

The sidewalks and streets in New York City aren’t walkable with these maniacs riding in every direction.

But enforcement goes down the tubes because, just like smoking weed, jumping the turnstile, urinating in the streets and all sorts of other criminality, too many people of color are getting bagged, even if they’re the majority offenders.
