Dems’ State of the Union display: Letters to the Editor — Feb. 28, 2026
The Issue: Democrats’ refusal to side with Americans over illegal immigrants at the State of the Union.
Democrats’ refusal to stand at the State of the Union was disgraceful (“Don put Dems in a clap trap,” Feb. 26).
I always knew they hated President Trump; now I know they hate America. The ones who did attend would have been better off staying home. Their true colors were exposed.
I just hope every moderate Democrat and independent thinks twice before voting for a Democrat.

Trump’s mistake was not mentioning names in the Democrats would have stood for: Karl Marx, Fidel Castro, Joseph Stalin, Ayatollah Khomeni, Xi Jinping, Nicolás Maduro and Kim Jong-un.
He could have also mentioned the men who steer the boats filled with heroin, cocaine and fentanyl.
Every one of us should know these speeches are embellished to suit the speaker. While Trump has accomplished plenty, he still embellished.
Then, I watched the response from Virginia Gov. Abigail Spanberger — who claimed repeatedly that Trump has done nothing for the American people but has simply enriched himself.
Give me a break — what politician, including Spanberger, has not enriched him- or herself?
Trump lured the Democrats in, and they bit (as they always do). The behavior of Reps. Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib, to name just two, was as abhorrent as you can get.
Hopefully, they will be terminated next time around when the American people realize they are nothing but con artists who’d rather pander to illegal immigrants than serve the public.
When Trump asked about illegal immigration during his State of the Union speech, congressional Democrats’ refusal to side with Americans before illegal immigrants was an undeniable knife to the very heart of America.
These elected officials have annihilated the trust that so many Americans have placed in them.
The left failed to stand at patriotic moments and looked small with their 18% approval rating. The only exception was reasonable Sen. John Fetterman, who stood when Republicans did.
In summation: If Democrats regain power, expect the borders to reopen and expect more trillions in socialist spending that will cause massive inflation.
The Issue: Criticism of the USA men’s hockey team after their post-win call and visit with President Trump.
President Trump’s locker-room wisecrack offered a ready-made excuse for Dems to clutch their pearls and signal outrage (“Stick it, wokesters!” Kirsten Fleming, Feb. 27).
Now critics have turned their sights on the US men’s hockey team, scolding them as though they were accomplices in a federal offense.
To be clear, the women’s team is free to decline Trump’s invitation. In today’s climate, resisting the ritual has become its own ritual. The larger loss is the assumption that every shared national moment must be filtered through partisan grievance.
By all accounts, Team USA’s men’s hockey team represented our country with class and humility both on and off the ice. Now they’re being called political pawns and cultural failures for enjoying their accomplishment.
It’s sad the elitist left has so much hatred for America that they look with vitriol upon even a once in-a-generation accomplishment.
