Democrats: Veering Left = ’28 Doom

“The far left is having a moment, and Democratic presidential aspirants are no doubt watching,” observe Jon Cowan & Matt Bennett at The Washington Post. But beware: “Moving far to the left is poison in a presidential general election campaign.”

“The math is inescapable” for a Dem nominee: “If you get 60 percent of moderates, you’re president. If you don’t, you lose.”

Remember, “what voters look for in a primary candidate for governor or senator is different from what they seek in a presidential nominee.”

A 2028 hopeful should aim for “combative centrism that challenges the status quo, not caution or socialism.”

That means “picking fights with Trump” but not veering further left, a “direction voters rejected” in 2024. “That’s not resistance, that’s amnesia.”
