Catching up with Wendy

Civilization knew the Wendy Williams TV show. They don’t exactly know the how, what or why — but they read or heard she ended up in some guardianship. Rosanna Scotto’s her friend. Mine, too.

So how to get through to her? Calling Putin’s easier.

Wendy: “You hear the words ‘aphasia’ and ‘dementia.’ ”

Also the terms floated around are “cognitive impairment” and “permanent incapacity.”

Wendy: “What am I to do?”

This is a memory care unit for the so-called cognitively impaired and/or permanently incapacitated. We spoke on several phone calls.

Wendy, sounding sharp: “I’ve by now rested my case. It’s $25,000 a month here. There’s grass, trees, two floors, no cars around. Can’t even do the elevator to go down. It, too, is locked. I once was a connoisseur of food and now sometimes I’ll just have meals in my room. And I don’t drink.
