This week had me muttering quite a bit about Quebec’s flagship Crown corporation, Hydro-Québec, after going without power for the three coldest days of the year, resulting in a broken pipe and flooded basement.

The experience made me dream of an independent Quebec and how much better our lives, public services and utilities could be — at least, that’s what Parti Québécois Leader Paul St-Pierre Plamondon would have us believe.
