Nancy Guthrie Update: TMZ's Harvey Levin Says FBI Went Radio Silent on Nancy Guthrie Ransom Notes
TMZ founder Harvey Levin's comments about being "ghosted" by the FBI in the Nancy Guthrie disappearance case have fueled online discussions and speculation that authorities may have identified a suspect.
Levin revealed he had been in regular contact with the FBI regarding ransom notes sent to the media outlet but said communication abruptly stopped after he proposed paying the ransom as part of a potential documentary effort to locate the missing 84-year-old.
Guthrie, the mother of NBC journalist Savannah Guthrie, vanished from her Tucson, Arizona home in February 2026. The case has drawn national attention due to the family's prominence and the mysterious circumstances surrounding her disappearance.
Levin described reaching out to his FBI contact with an idea to engage the note sender. "And I said, look, what if TMZ does a documentary and that we try and get in touch with this guy and even pay the money?" Levin explained in a video update. "And if he takes us to the location, then you get resolution, the Guthrie family gets resolution. And if he scams us, he scams us. But I just had this real feeling that it might be real."
According to Levin, the contact found the proposal interesting and promised to follow up. However, subsequent attempts to reconnect went unanswered. "And I've called a half-a-dozen times since over the last couple of weeks, and I've gotten nothing back," he said. "For some reason, the FBI has gone radio silent on me...they've ghosted me, and I don't know what that's about."
The silence has prompted widespread online speculation. Some observers suggest it could indicate significant investigative progress. One social media........
